Which products enter a tub comparison?

The general tub comparison admits real immersion tubs and complete tub-and-chiller packages. The kit comparison admits packages classified as including both. The tub-only comparison excludes bundled chillers. Standalone cooling machines, filters and covers are useful equipment but never substitutes for a tub in these lists. Shortlist eligibility requires a collected public Amazon average and positive review count. Listings without this usable review evidence remain in the catalog but cannot enter a comparator, so the documentation-only fallback cannot outrank reviewed products. Each shortlist takes the five highest raw-scoring eligible listings, breaking ties alphabetically by slug.

What can an exact listing prove?

We extract water capacity only with a gallon or gal unit, dimensions only with an inch unit, named material and explicit chiller inclusion or exclusion. Every extracted specification retains its exact quotation and source note. A larger capacity earns no extra points: this index measures whether these buying questions are documented. It does not establish that a tub fits a person or performs better.

The specification and documentation indexes

Documented spec fit = 100 × [0.40 × stated water capacity + 0.25 × stated dimensions + 0.20 × named material + 0.15 × explicit chiller inclusion or exclusion], rounded to a whole number. Each term is 1 only when supported by an exact listing quotation and 0 otherwise. Capacity requires a gallon or gal unit; dimensions require an inch unit. This is specification coverage, not a reward for a larger tub, a cooling performance test, a safety assessment or a health claim.

Documentation completeness = 100 × [0.5 × min(feature bullets / 8, 1) + 0.3 × min(listing images / 5, 1) + 0.2 × (brand stated ? 1 : 0)], rounded to a whole number. Used when no water capacity in gallons is documented. This measures listing documentation, not physical performance.

Public customer reviews: a separate input

Where Amazon publicly displays customer reviews for a listing (average star rating and review count captured from the public product page), the raw editorial score is 100 × [0.45 × (Amazon average / 5) × min(review count / 50, 1) + 0.35 × min(log10(1 + review count) / log10(1 + 5000), 1) + 0.20 × documentation score / 100]. The confidence factor min(review count / 50, 1) damps averages based on very few reviews, and the logarithmic volume term rewards large public review volumes, so widely and highly reviewed listings rank ahead of thinly reviewed ones. Listings with no captured public review data use the documentation score alone. This combined index reflects the public Amazon reputation and the listing documentation — it is not a physical test and not our own product testing.

A missing review block means no usable public review record was collected, not that the product has no customers. Links let readers check current Amazon reviews. The customer stars above product titles are the collected Amazon average; the OUR RATING badge is our editorial index, not an Amazon star rating.

From raw scores to the visible shortlist

The displayed editorial rating is the raw blended score divided by 10, shown to one decimal on a 0-10 scale. There is no catalog normalization, rank interpolation, forced winner, forced floor or artificial gap. Equal scores remain equal: the available data does not justify a distinction. Ranking uses the unmodified raw score descending, then listing slug for exact ties; slug is a stable identifier, not a quality signal. The same raw score always has the same display rating in every shortlist. This is not a physical test result or an Amazon customer rating.

The top card is the highest raw-scoring eligible listing, not the product with the largest tank. Optional sorting changes the reading order without changing its score. We do not assign a best-value award without verified comparable prices.

Perishable commercial details

Prices, availability and product photography carry separate retrieval and expiry timestamps, with a maximum 24-hour window. Expired or missing information is hidden. A date beside a comparison is rendered from the eligible offers snapshot, never the build time. Seller listings can change sooner, so Amazon remains the place to verify current terms.

Limits of this work

This is not a physical test. We have not measured cooling output, water quality, noise or long-term wear. Water-care wording does not establish sanitation, and package contents do not establish safe installation. Read the exact manual and obtain qualified advice for electrical work, drainage and structural support. Nothing here is a health claim or a personal immersion protocol.
