Marcus Albright, Setup & sizing writer

Most of the regret I read about in owner reviews isn't about the tub itself. It's about where the tub ended up. It didn't fit through the gate. The drain points at the house. The nearest outlet is across the yard and the manual says no extension cords. That's what I write about.

My routine is plain. For each tub I pull the exact listing, the manual and the spec sheet, and I write down the interior length and depth separately from the outside footprint, because listings mix the two up all the time. If a listing gives only one set of numbers, the guide says so instead of me guessing which one it is.

Then I go through owner reviews looking for setup stories: how many people it took to carry, whether it sat level on pavers, what happened after the first hard frost. Patterns go into the guides. One-off complaints usually stay out.

I write the guides on placement, sizing and outdoor winter setup. I haven't installed these tubs for the site and I won't pretend I have. I'd rather you measure twice with my checklist than trust a photo of a tub on a perfect deck.

Areas of expertise

  • Where to put a tub: deck, patio, garage
  • Interior fit vs. outside footprint
  • Delivery access, drainage and leveling
  • Outdoor and winter setup
  • Outlet notes in the manuals

How I work

  • I record the interior size and the outside footprint separately, and flag listings that give only one.
  • I read the manual's installation and drainage pages before any of the marketing copy.
  • I look for setup stories in owner reviews (carrying it, leveling it, the first freeze) and keep the ones that repeat.
  • If a listing leaves out something you need for placement, the guide says it's missing rather than filling the gap.
